Stand Strong with I/DD Families in Need of Expanded Services from DDS
DDS families are fearful for the future of their I/DD loved ones. There are not enough support services from DDS to meet the needs of their adult I/DD children, and there is no long-term care plan in place for them as they age.
Several STS guardians were there. It was an historic day for them and for family members of I/DD loved ones on the DDS waiting (planning) list for group home placement. Watch the video: Family Hearing Day Info Forum
Two more lobby days are scheduled for February 19 and 26 at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford. There will also be a Legislative Breakfast on March 4 in Manchester. DDS families and members of Union 1199NE/SEIU will be at these important events to advocate for expanded DDS funding and services.
STS guardians should be at these events. Your presence reminds legislators and DDS families that you have the same fears and concerns about the long-term care of your loved ones. Stand strong with I/DD families in need of expanded services from DDS.
By connecting with other DDS families and legislators, we can build positive awareness about why our choice for quality care and services is STS.
