Take Action New Bill Seeks Funds for DDS Representative Mary M. Mushinsky of Wallingford has introduced a bill seeking funds for DDS residential placements that will be considered by the Public Health Committee. The purpose of Proposed Bill No. 5212 is to increase the number of residential placements for young I/DD individuals. Please take action to support this bill.

Families are being told that housing for their I/DD young adult children is unlikely until parents die, and families of Southbury residents are “wary of the prospect of their relatives going into the community system, which even service providers consider starved for resources.” – Source: The CT Mirror
STS guardians have the same fears and concerns about the long-term care of our loved ones as these families. We must all stand strong with I/DD families on the DDS waiting (planning) list in need of expanded services from DDS.
